2. Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets are one of the most interesting teams in the league in terms of the pursuit of Anthony Davis. Their roster boasts plenty of young talent that could put together a nice return for New Orleans if they wanted to pursue a trade.

Any offer the Nuggets slide across the table to the Pelicans would likely have to start with Jamal Murray. Murray has been great this season, though still showing signs of not being all the way at his potential yet. With one more year on his rookie deal, he could very well be a future franchise point guard for a team looking to rebuild.

In addition to Murray, the highly touted Michael Porter Jr. would be tantalizing for the Pels. Porter has been out all season with a back injury, but was a consensus No. 1 prospect until he was out injured in college.

If New Orleans feels those two players have plenty of potential to be building blocks down the road, the Nuggets could add young big man Trey Lyles to sweeten the pot and use a valuable veteran like Paul Millsap to make the money work. Millsap has a team option of $30 million next season. This could be great for the Pelican, as they will likely have cap space and no intention to contend, meaning they could pick up the option and trade him, or keep him around to mentor their youngsters.

The potential of a frontcourt made of up Nikola Jokic and Anthony Davis could be as formidable as they come in the league — especially since both players’ skill-sets complement each other so well. Denver could throw in a lot to make this deal work, including adding Gary Harris to the mix if they had to. The Nuggets remain a sleeper to swoop in and nab Davis prior to Feb. 7.
