How it will affect the Lakers

Now it’s time to examine how LeBron James and Irving would mesh with the Los Angeles Lakers roster.

On paper, putting James and Irving back onto the same team is a home run move. Irving has always been the perfect type of player to pair alongside James. He’s elite at creating his own shot and has the ability to completely take over a game. This complements James well as he can fully trust Irving to make the right decision with the ball.

If Irving decided to join the Lakers in free agency, Los Angeles would have some interesting options. They could potentially put out a lineup of Irving, James, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and whatever center they choose to select.

This core would be very effective as they have a great mix of offense and defense. James is obviously a juggernaut on both ends, while Irving can score at will and Ingram has the potential to be an elite two-way player. To top it all off, Ball can thrive as a playmaker, setting up his teammates while also continuing to be a lockdown perimeter defender.

The Lakers would be able to rely on Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart to produce consistently off of the bench. If L.A. is able to add another star player via trade or free agency (Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson) then this team would become the favorites to win a title.
