5. Terry Rozier

After Terry Rozier filled in so impressively for Kyrie Irving down the stretch of the regular season and in the playoffs last year, the writing was on the wall. He was too good to be a backup, even on a title contender like the Boston Celtics.

But then a funny thing happened this season: He was absolutely terrible in a role that was designed for him to feast on opposing backups. He’s only averaging 8.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game on ugly .380/.348/.797 shooting splits, and it didn’t take long for trade rumors to start seeping in.

It’s only natural. Rozier hasn’t been good, and one could argue Brad Wannamaker could take over as the backup point guard. His status as an unaffordable restricted free agent this summer means Boston could very easily lose him for nothing if a team in need of a young point guard makes an offer.

Rozier is the Celtics’ most logical trade candidate, but with whispers about Irving not being all in on re-signing this summer, general manager Danny Ainge may not make any rash decisions just yet. Even this season, Scary Terry has shined when he’s been given a starter’s minutes … which makes it all the more tantalizing to think about how he’d perform elsewhere in a starting role.
