Utah Jazz: Pros and cons of trading for Otto Porter Jr.
The verdict
The fact that Utah is interested in adding Porter Jr. isn’t necessarily surprising or fresh news to Jazz fans. Back in 2017, when Gordon Hayward left in free agency, leaving Utah wondering where it would go next, the Jazz reportedly had interest in signing Porter, who was also a free agent at the time.
Utah’s front office even scheduled a meeting with the wing/forward before he ultimately returned to the Wizards, signing a four-year, $106.5 million deal with the Brooklyn Nets that Washington ultimately matched.
It’s clear that the Jazz have continued interest in Porter, and the recent buzz of them once again exploring the possibility proves that. That alone makes this move more than realistic for both teams.
For one, Washington could likely turn into sellers as the deadline continues to creep closer and closer. On the other side of things, Utah continues to climb to the ranks and standings in the Western Conference and could be looking to beef up its roster even more in preparation for a playoff run in the packed West.
There are multiple pros and cons on both sides of this trade rumor involving Otto Porter Jr. making his way to the Jazz, but the possibility of this trade is more than realistic for both sides.
