Con: Is it worth Utah giving up more assets?

A question that needs to be answered when it comes to whether or not Utah wants to push its chips on the table to trade for Porter would be if the team is willing to give up even more assets this season.

Utah is already somewhat limited to the amount of assets it could send back to Washington, mainly after giving up a few second round draft picks in a trade for Kyle Korver earlier in the year — not that two second round picks will make or break any sort of trade, but it’s something the Jazz will have to think about when exploring trade packages.

It’s also worth asking, from Utah’s point-of-view, whether or not it views Porter as an upgrade to any of the pieces it currently has. Namely, Derrick Favors. Favors, who re-signed with Utah in the offseason, has one more year (non-guaranteed) left on his contract with the Jazz.

Is Utah serious about the idea of moving Favors — and potentially more — for a player that has a larger contract and is having a bit of a down season? We’ll, we could soon find out how highly the Jazz think of Porter..

Now that we’ve touched on both sides of the argument, is a trade actually realistic and what should both Utah and Washington do at the deadline?
