Pro: This could be useful addition for present and future

Another pro to Utah making the move to add Porter at the trade deadline would be that this move could not only help the Jazz right now, but would provide a piece they can continue to utilize for the future.

For one, Otto Porter Jr. is still in the early stages of his NBA career and is a youthful piece that matches the likes of Utah’s core in Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.

The third overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft is in his sixth professional year with the Wizards this season, but is also just 25 years old. That makes for a nice mixture of youth and experience that would make for a solid addition in Salt Lake City.

Although the Jazz are very much in win-now mode and should be living in the moment after making a playoff run a season ago while being on pace to reach the postseason again this year, Porter would also allow Utah to continue to look ahead to the future and move forward with a nice young nucleus beyond the 2018-19 campaign.
