5. Trade for Terry Rozier

Terry Rozier, a 24-year-old point guard on the Boston Celtics, is a proven weapon on offense when given the chance. In the 2017-18 NBA season, Kyrie Irving went down with an injury that gave Rozier the reins of the Celtics’ offense. In the playoffs, Rozier stunned the world with his offensive performances, making sure everyone knew who he was — especially Eric Bledsoe.

This season, Rozier has taken the back seat to Kyrie Irving, coming off the bench. Averaging 8.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game, Rozier could be a nice pickup for Dallas. Currently, in the last year of his contract, he will likely choose to sign with a team that is willing to give him a starting role, and Dallas could very well be that team. If Rozier could commit to re-signing in Dallas over the summer, the Mavs should make a move to bring Rozier to Texas.

One trade that could work out for both teams is sending Dennis Smith Jr. to the Celtics for Terry Rozier. The Mavericks would get a potential point guard of the future in Rozier, with the inside track to re-sign their restricted free agent over the summer, while the Celtics would add a good rotational player with three contract years remaining in Smith.
