With the NBA season just past the halfway mark, the Dallas Mavericks are sitting in 12th in the Western Conference standings with a record of 22-27. Here are five moves the Mavs could make in hopes for playoff contention.

Carrying the Dallas Mavericks this season has been the remarkable performance of Luka Doncic. The 19-year-old Wonder Boy is averaging 20.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

While Doncic is performing great, one of the bigger problems the Mavericks are facing this season is their ability to score. With the team averaging 109.4 points per game, they are 20th in the NBA in scoring. The Mavs should look to add some offensive power.

Another major factor that could be holding the team back is the relative lack of veteran presence on the court. Aside from Mavericks fan favorite Dirk Nowitzki and a few others, the team is young and inexperienced. With J.J. Barea done for the season after a torn right Achilles, it may be time for the Mavs to add some experience into the young roster, which includes six rookies (including two two-way players) and two second-year players.

Here are five moves the Dallas Mavericks should make to help better their chances of making the playoffs in 2018-19.
