2019 NBA Trade Deadline: 10 teams that should trade for Anthony Davis
8. Utah Jazz
Rudy Gobert is an All-NBA big man. He’s a defensive anchor unto himself, an underrated offensive weapon as a rim-runner and roll man, and the deserving All-Star candidate on a Utah Jazz team that’s been on fire lately.
However, if the Jazz aren’t content with working their way back from yet another rough start and want to inject some baking soda into this vinegar volcano of a rise to prominence, trading for Anthony Davis would accelerate that process.
A straight up one-for-one swap wouldn’t be fair compensation, but what if the Jazz threw in rookie Grayson Allen?
If the Pelicans want to stay relevant, this is about as much as they could realistically ask for. It’d still be a step down from the Brow overall, but Gobert is a superb two-way center and Allen has flashed potential in his limited minutes.
For the Jazz, they’d immediately join the group of “main threats to the Golden State Warriors” in the West, with a foundation of Davis, Donovan Mitchell and a deep supporting cast to build upon. The problem here is New Orleans might be angling for a full-scale rebuild, and even this offer might pale in comparison to what other teams can bring to the table.
