10. Philadelphia 76ers

Ben Simmons is the best player on this entire list that the Pelicans could hypothetically get in an Anthony Davis trade, so throwing in Markelle Fultz‘s potential and Wilson Chandler‘s expiring contract to balance out the money puts this close to “best-case scenario” territory.

The Philadelphia 76ers want to win now, but are having problems surrounding Joel Embiid with the right mix of talent. The Sixers have been an excellent team with Embiid, Simmons, Jimmy Butler and J.J. Redick on the floor together, but may not have the shooting to become a legitimate championship contender.

That’s where Simmons becomes the odd man out, even with his visionary passing and superb defense. If the Pelicans have to part ways with AD, they would love to have a young but also established franchise superstar like Simmons to build around.

However, even if the Sixers and Pelicans were interested in making a deal like this happen, Davis and Embiid share the same agent in Rich Paul, which makes a swapping of those clients unlikely, according to Yahoo! Sports‘ Chris Haynes.

All the question marks about Fultz’s health would be an issue, and though Davis would be a clear upgrade in talent, it’d be somewhat curious for the Sixers to use “3-point shooting” as an excuse to trade in Simmons for a Twin Towers lineup when both AD and Embiid are underwhelming floor-spacers. Would they have the defensive foot speed to stick with opponents’ small-ball lineups?

This is a fun trade to think about for both sides, but ultimately there are way too many potential pitfalls for it to be taken seriously.
