In Week 16 of NBA Power Rankings for the 2018-19 season, the Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks are both streaking, but in opposite directions.

In the NBA, a double-digit streak can either be incredibly impressive, or thoroughly depressing. A win streak of that length can cement a team as a legitimate playoff threat and one of the best teams in the association, while a losing streak in double figures can doom a team to the bottom of the standings.

With the Golden State Warriors on an 11-game win streak and the New York Knicks dropping 10 straight contests, no one should be surprised with where these two teams stand, even if the person knew absolutely nothing about either one. They’re clearly on different trajectories, with the Dubs playing some of their best basketball of the season and the Knicks searching for answers.

However, these two prestigious franchises aren’t the only high risers and steep droppers in Week 16’s NBA Power Rankings. The Indiana Pacers are facing a lost season with Victor Oladipo done for the year, while the Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder are looking formidable of late.

We’d also be remiss in failing to mention Anthony Davis wanting out, and the effect that will have on the New Orleans Pelicans, who should remain patient but have plenty of options available on the trade market should they choose to move their franchise superstar before the Feb. 7 trade deadline.

Bearing all this in mind, here are the latest NBA Power Rankings.
