Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 players who should be part of the core
By Tony Pesta
5. Matthew Dellavadova
Matthew Dellavadova is one player who feels like he should be a Cleveland Cavalier for life. Delly first made his debut to the NBA in the 2013-14 season as an undrafted rookie. The Cleveland fanbase quickly embraced him for his grit and hustle. During a time before LeBron James had returned to the Cavs, fans loved to see a player such as Dellavedova give his all in every game.
Delly solidified himself as a long-term fan favorite with his performances in the 2015 NBA Finals. With All-Star Kyrie Irving sidelined due to injury, Delly stepped in as the team’s only option to replace him. His lockdown defense made him one of the biggest names in basketball for a few days and earned him another contract with the team.
After being a member of the historic 2016 championship team, Delly was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. Now, two years later, Dellavedova is back in Cleveland and could realistically be a cornerstone piece to their rebuild.
It’s tough to find players that will display maximum effort in every game, regardless of how important the game is. Matthew Dellavedova will always bring energy to the floor and he should be a member of this team for the foreseeable future.
