4. Dallas Mavericks

Okay, this one is kind of cheating. After going over both Conley and Gasol’s trade prospects, there was never a trade where both of them could be packaged together. It would be hard, with more then $55 million in salary committed to the two, but there is one feasible trade:

This trade gets the Grizzlies two of the things they are seeking: cap relief and a young player. DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews are on expiring deals and would give the Grizzlies an exorbitant amount of cap room next season.

Dennis Smith Jr. would be the prize here, coming in to take the helm from Conley and be the point guard of the future. The Grizzlies would also ask for a future draft pick from Dallas, but that would have to wait until 2021, since Dallas doesn’t own its first round selection in 2019.

This is the biggest reset button the Grizzlies could make, but it is not easy on the eyes trading the two greatest Grizzlies of all time for Dennis Smith Jr. and a first-rounder three drafts away.

The Dallas Mavericks would be sacrificing their cap space for the foreseeable future, bringing in two key players north of 30. But hey, at least Marc Gasol can speak Spanish with Luka Doncic and may not steal his rebounds?
