2. Jaylen Brown

Jaylen Brown’s name has started to surface in trade rumors for the Celtics, mostly because he could potentially be moved in a blockbuster type trade. As highlighted before, Boston is not able to trade for Davis until this summer. Whether they actually do that is unknown, but the team may keep Brown as a possible trade chip for the New Orleans Pelicans star.

Since Brown is on his rookie contract , the Celtics would have a hard time finding a potential trade. It doesn’t benefit the Celtics to trade him for another player on cheap contract because more than likely, that player doesn’t hold the same value that Brown has.

Despite having a down season, he still holds a lot of long-term potential. He’s only 22 years old and won’t turn 23 until October. He’s played in 43 games this season, but only has been able to start in 22 of those. That’s because he’s been largely inconsistent and has dropped off from his 2017-18 campaign.

In 26.0 minutes of action, he’s averaging 12.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.9 steals a night. He’s also having a down year shooting the ball, going 44.5 percent from the field and 32.0 percent from 3.

Even though he’s had some struggles, Brown is still an intriguing prospect for the Celtics and many other teams. His sophomore season was a nice breakthrough of what could potentially come in a few years. Again, he seems like the more likely candidate to be moved if there is a blockbuster opportunity.
