Boston Celtics: 3 players most likely to be traded before deadline
3. Semi Ojeleye
Semi Ojeleye isn’t necessarily a player teams will be looking at, nor has he done enough to cement himself as an intriguing player to trade for. However, he’s included in this list because he can be a filler in a trade because of his cheap contract.
He’s currently making $1.4 million this season and is under contract until the 2019-20 season. Wherever he may be at that time in his career, that team will have a team option for the 2020-21 season.
Ojeleye is still just 24 years old, selected 37th in the 2017 NBA Draft out of SMU. He hasn’t been productive in his time with the Celtics, but has seen limited action. This season he’s played in 35 games, starting in two of those due to injuries in the starting lineup. Within those games he’s received just 10.8 minutes per game.
He’s currently averaging 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds this season. He doesn’t shoot it particularly well either, shooting it 42.1 percent from the field and 29.0 percent from 3. Despite lacking production or playing time, Ojeleye does have some quality features that may appeal teams.
He’s 6’7″ and 241 pounds, which will allow him to play at the 3 or the 4 if need be. Ojeleye won’t be the center of any trade, but he does make this list because of his cheap contract and ability to match salaries with other teams. An important note: If Terry Rozier were to be traded, his contract is a nice filler when matching money.
