5 shooters teams should target for 2019 NBA Trade Deadline
2. Troy Daniels, Phoenix Suns
There are a number of teams that would make sense as a suitor for Troy Daniels, mostly because it’d be shocking if the Phoenix Suns didn’t plop him on the trade block soon. His track record isn’t as extensive or impressive as some of these other guys, but this journeyman can certainly shoot the 3-ball.
Daniels is a career 40.3 percent shooter from deep, taking 4.4 attempts per game. This year, he’s knocking down 39.6 percent of his looks, taking 3.8 a night. Unfortunately, he’s only averaging 6.1 points in a meager 13.6 minutes per contest, seeing action in just 24 games.
With the Suns’ plethora of young wings in need of development, it makes sense that Daniels has taken a backseat. However, he can really help a playoff team’s depth and floor-spacing, and at 27 years old, he’s smack-dab in the middle of his prime.
Phoenix should do him a professional courtesy and send him to a more competitive team where he might actually play again, and his $3.3 million expiring contract would be all too easy to move. The Suns would likely snag a second round pick in the process, so really, everyone would win here.
