2. Detroit Pistons*

*The Detroit Pistons would have to use their $1.3 million trade exception from the Brice Johnson trade last season to make this work.

This trade gets the Grizzlies a little bit of cap relief and gets them below the tax this year, something small-market teams are always looking for.

Reggie Jackson hasn’t really ever been able to fit in in Detroit, and a change might be welcome for the former Boston College Golden Eagle. Even though he has one more year on his deal, the Grizz could use his expiring contract in the future to pick up other young players or take on bad salary in exchange for a draft pick or two.

Stanley Johnson has had a somewhat disappointing NBA career so far without showing any real improvement. Johnson will be a restricted free agent at the end of the year, and the Grizzlies could bring him back for cheap or if they don’t like his progress, just let him go at the end of the year.

Luke Kennard has struggled with injuries this year, but has shown the ability to shoot the ball, something Memphis desperately needs. He would fill a need in his ability to come off the bench and hit some shots.
