It has been months since J.R. Smith appeared in an NBA game and with the 2019 NBA Trade Deadline quickly approaching, here are three trades the Cleveland Cavaliers could make with Smith as the centerpiece.

The 2018-19 NBA season has been a long and grueling one for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Once the fate of the team became clear at the start of the season, J.R. Smith quickly realized that his role with the team was being diminished.

It didn’t take long for ESPN‘s Brian Windhorst to report that Smith was taking time away from the team and waiting to be traded.

Smith has now missed 37 consecutive games and has yet to be moved. It appears as if the Cavaliers are running out of time to make a deal this season, and with the 2019 NBA Trade Deadline only 16 days away, the front office will have to figure something out soon.

It shouldn’t be impossible to find a suitable trade partner for Smith. While his contract may be a little too expensive, his $15.7 million salary for next year is non-guaranteed. There are definitely a few teams that could use his 3-point shooting and veteran experience, so here are three potential trades involving J.R. Smith.
