2. New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans are a trade deadline constant, looking for one more piece to help extend the Anthony Davis era one additional playoff round. Last year, the Pelicans pulled off a trade to get Nikola Mirotic from Chicago and in return, made it to the second round. This year, New Orleans could look back into the market to add one more rotation player for another push.

Bazemore makes sense for New Orleans because he pushes their wing rotation players down one spot. Jrue Holiday, Bazemore’s potential backcourt mate, is a mainstay at the guard position. After that? Players like E’Twaun Moore, Elfrid Payton, Darius Miller, Frank Jackson and Wesley Johnson would move from occasionally starting to decent bench depth – something New Orleans has struggled with during the Davis era.

For the compensation, Atlanta would be eyeing New Orleans’ first round pick. While the Pelicans sit in 12th place in the West, the playoffs aren’t completely out of the picture, with the bottom of the Western Conference playoff field only a few games away. To match contracts, Solomon Hill, a free agency mistake from two seasons ago, could fill that void.

There was a bit more stability with New Orleans being in the playoffs as it made a trade for Nikola Mirotic last year, but a deal for Bazemore would make a ton of sense to help their starting lineup….even with Anthony Davis’ recent finger injury.
