With the 2019 NBA Trade Deadline inching closer by the day, there are always a few veteran trade candidates who could make big impacts on playoff contenders.

The NBA trade deadline is a fascinating time for both NBA franchises and their fans, offering a glimmer of hope for those possibly in need of a fix, or a welcomed addition for a team on the cusp of something special but still lacking reinforcements.

While fans are enamored with the blockbuster trades of superstar players that occur seemingly once a year at a minimum in this era of mobility, the deadline is more about making subtle tweaks that can make a big difference, usually by going after those in need of rescue from their current team for one reason or another.

This season, such players certainly are not in short supply. There are a number of experienced guys on teams more concerned about the bouncing of ping pong balls than they are trying to win games, and those players could be of great value to those looking to get an edge in the final stretch of the regular season.

What it would take to acquire such talent will vary with each player, and likely the team trying to make the deal, but for those in the postseason hunt or maybe even the championship race, giving up future assets could pay major dividends in the present day.
