3. Finally catching a break in the schedule

The first reason that might be behind Utah’s recent six-game winning streak is it finally catching a bit of a break in the schedule.

With the Western Conference absolutely stacked this season, the Jazz have had a schedule filled with tough opponents night in and night out for a majority of the year, and that was especially the case in the first half of the regular season.

In the past six games during this current streak Utah has put together, it’s been able to face some opponents of a lesser talent level, which has helped the Jazz make some noise and get right back into the playoff picture in the conference.

Of those six wins over the last week, Utah has faced and taken down teams below the .500 mark such as the Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons and Cavaliers. The two teams that were above .500 included the Los Angeles Lakers, who are still without LeBron James, and the Los Angeles Clippers, who have cooled off since their hot start to the season.

It certainly helps any team when you can catch a bit of a break in the schedule as far as the talent level you’re playing on a given night.

Yes, the Jazz are playing better overall, which is a bulk of the reason they’re succeeding of late, but the teams they have faced haven’t necessarily been the caliber of talent they were forced to face in the opening half of the year.
