Boston Celtics: 3 trades team should make before deadline

With the Boston Celtics’ early season struggles, many fingers have been pointed at their key core pieces. However, small roster tweaks that yield the Celtics quality role players may be the better move for immediate and future success.

The first half to the 2018-19 season has not gone according to how most Boston Celtics fans envisioned the team’s start to the LeBron James-less Eastern Conference would go. The young guns who showed the world their potential on the biggest stage have, at times, struggled to adjust their games to the proven stars.

Gordon Hayward’s recovery seems like it will be a long journey that Celtics fans will have to buckle in for. Al Horford has begun to show his age (just a little), the loss of Aron Baynes revealed a glaring hole in the Celtics interior defense, and Terry Rozier just cannot seem to rediscover that magic from last year that seemed like such a given entering this season.

This season has been one of peaks and valleys for the Boston Celtics and their fans. The core is there; you do not break up Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward, Marcus Smart and Al Horford unless the return is Anthony Davis.

However, cracks in the teams play have shown, and a few minor roster tweaks could be what this team needs to get back on track and play catch-up in the Eastern Conference standings.
