3. Courtney Lee

The first player we’re going to take a look at is Courtney Lee. He originally joined the team in 2016, joining Derrick Rose and Carmelo Anthony in a team that had many high hopes.

As both the aforementioned departed after a pretty disappointing 2016-17 campaign, Lee stuck along, being named as the team’s captain for the next season.

This season hasn’t gone that great for Lee so far. After missing the first 24 games of the season with an injury, he has yet to find a steady spot in the team’s rotation. He has appeared in just 10 games so far, averaging 5.3 points per game.

But nevertheless, Courtney Lee still remains a solid NBA player that could prove quite useful to a different team, perhaps a contender. He is the standard 3-and-D type of player with a career average of 39 percent shooting from behind the arc.

As a result, teams would have no reason at all to throw away the opportunity to snag him away for a fairly cheap price. The Toronto Raptors or the Oklahoma City Thunder both lack depth at the wing spots and would be an excellent match if paired with Lee.

Per New York, they would have to pay him $25 million until 2020 when his contract expires. So it may be at the team’s best interest to receive some expiring deals for the 11-year veteran.
