2. Charlotte Hornets

Lost amidst the early season fireworks delivered by Charlotte Hornets All-Star point guard Kemba Walker has been the stellar season put together by swingman Jeremy Lamb. Now in his seventh season, the 26-year-old Lamb is quietly averaging 15.2 points and 5.6 rebounds in just 29.1 minutes per game.

With his ability to defend multiple positions due to his 6’11” wingspan and terrific lateral quickness, Lamb would make as an ideal sixth man for this current Sixers squad. Furthermore, his ability to score both on and off the ball would greatly assist the bench unit, which currently ranks 22nd in the league in points per game.

An unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, it’s unclear at this stage just how eager the Hornets will be to re-sign Lamb, given the cap constraints they currently have with several other highly paid players, and the impending free agency of Walker.

In return, the Sixers would be relinquishing the rights to current rookie guard Zhaire Smith. Sidelined thus far for the entire season due to a broken foot, Smith is viewed as extremely raw, but given his athletic gifts has the potential to be a real difference-maker down the road. In addition, stretch-big Mike Muscala is included for financial purposes, as well as a 2019 second round draft selection.

In all, the deal provides the Sixers with a highly versatile player to back up the starters, while providing the Hornets with a view to the future while saving themselves from some potentially cap-straining signings.
