Los Angeles Lakers: 3 potential trade proposals for Anthony Davis
Trade Option No. 3
Man, this feels like a lot to give up for the Brow. And yet, it feels like something the Pelicans would be asking for if they decided to pull the trigger on a trade. Either way, it’s going to be a costly endeavor for the Lakers.
So in this instance, the Lakers send Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart as the centerpieces of the package. Then Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Rajon Rondo and Lance Stephenson are lumped in to make the financials work. Finally, to ensure that New Orleans feels it’s getting the right returns for Davis, Los Angeles tosses in a 2020 first round pick to seal the deal.
In return, the Lakers get their man. Wesley Johnson is also tossed in to balance the books. He’s an expiring contract who offers limited upside for Los Angeles, but he’s an afterthought in regards to swinging this deal. The focus here is on finding a way to get Davis wearing purple and gold, which this could theoretically accomplish.
The one thing I would add here is that the Lakers retain their 2019 first round pick, which is a plus. Moving their 2020 selection isn’t ideal, but it’s a small thing if it’s what gets the Pelicans to bite.
