Rookie of the Year: Grayson Allen

With Grayson Allen basically being the only player to qualify for the Jazz Rookie of the Year award, he is the winner of the midseason team award for the first half of the season.

Allen had an encouraging start to the 2018-19 campaign after being selected by Utah with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Duke.

The rookie appeared in eight of the first 10 games of the year for the Jazz, averaging five points and 0.4 assists in just over 11 minutes per game, recording a plus-minus of plus-1.9 during that span.

Since that point, though, Allen has found it hard to get and stay on the court in Salt Lake City, playing in just nine games since that point. He hasn’t appeared in a game since Dec. 12, currently dealing with a right ankle sprain, although he is expected to return to action soon.

Overall this season, Allen is averaging 4.1 points, 0.4 assists, 0.3 rebounds and is shooting 32.3 percent from the field in 17 games.

After seeing what Allen is capable of as far as fitting in Utah and his ability to be a nice complimentary piece within the Jazz rotation, the potential for the rookie is encouraging, earning him the midseason team Rookie of the Year award.
