The New York Knicks don’t have a good record, but a few players have stood out this season. We hand out some midseason awards for the 2018-19 season giving some praise to those players.

The 2018-19 season has not been a kind one to the New York Knicks. They currently have a record of 10-32, putting them on pace for only 20 victories this season.

That wasn’t exactly the plan when David Fizdale took over the head coaching spot from Jeff Hornacek. Fizdale brought energy and bravado to the sidelines to the Knicks, instilling confidence in his players.

While the results haven’t been there yet in terms of wins, the Knicks have at least remained competitive most nights. With so many young players on the roster, you want to see progress being made, and with plenty of the guys, you see steps being taken in the right direction.

All of the losses can wear on a team, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Their best player, Kristaps Porzingis, has not yet played this season he recovers from an ACL tear last February.

There is hope he can return this season, but it wouldn’t shock anyone — at this point — if he sat out the whole season.

The losing also results in a better draft pick. With transcendent talent such as Zion Williamson potentially being available, the losing could have a benefit. New York could also have some cap space this summer to make a splash in free agency to push their rebuild even further.

Confidence is still high throughout the organization. Fizdale believes the Knicks will win more in the second half than they did in the first half. If that is to happen, they will need some players to continue stepping up the remainder of the season.

Which players could that be? We hand out some awards to recognize who has been playing well thus far for New York this season. If these players continue trending upward, there will be more wins in the Big Apple now through April.
