As we get closer and closer to the 2019 trade deadline, the New York Knicks could attempt a trade for an NBA superstar like Jimmy Butler.

It’s been rumored before, and now it might be time to revive those rumors. The New York Knicks could find themselves very active over the next month as they attempt to build the best possible roster to attract possible 2019 free agents.

At the start of the season, we had those never-ending Jimmy Butler rumors. When the Philadelphia 76ers decided to pull the trigger on their trade for the superstar shooting guard, all those rumors were put to rest.

But the new year has not exactly started off with the right foot for Butler and the Sixers. Per ESPN, Butler has been challenging head coach Brett Brown on his role with the team on the offensive end.

Since his arrival in Philly, Butler has been averaging 18.3 points along with 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. As he is averaging close to five fewer minutes in comparison to his Minnesota Timberwolves days, Butler is having trouble adjusting to the fact that he is neither the team’s primary scorer nor its ball-handler.

Teams have already called the Sixers front office to inquire about Butler’s availability, according to Bleacher Report. Even though the Sixers are currently holding a negative stance when it comes to trading him away, many things can change leading up to the trade deadline on Feb. 7.

Butler is a player that can make or break an entire NBA team. His intense level of hard work can easily motivate the team’s young guys, or they can struggle to withstand the pressure. Butler is a player who has been working hard since his first day in the NBA and he wants to make sure all of his teammates act accordingly.

Bearing all this in mind, let’s examine a potential trade that would send Jimmy Butler to New York as well as benefit the Sixers.
