Toronto Raptors: 5 trade targets to improve 3-point shooting
1. Vince Carter
And here we are. Where most men would cry.
What else can be said about the Toronto Raptors and Vince Carter? He spent the first six and a half seasons with them, ultimately leading to a bad “breakup.” Carter is now a member of the Atlanta Hawks, but could he soon be heading home?
The Hawks are struggling to win games and a veteran like Carter seems to be wasting his final NBA moments playing for a tanking franchise. As the Hawks are hoping to get a top-three pick in the upcoming draft, minor trades involving veterans would be totally acceptable to them.
Before you question the balance of this trade in terms of balance, think about that: About one year ago, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat agreed on a trade that would send Dwyane Wade back home in Miami in exchange for a second round pick.
With that in mind, by throwing in Greg Monroe to balance the money situation, you have the perfect trade to send Vinsanity back to Toronto while providing the Hawks with an extra draft pick in the upcoming draft.
Keep in mind that according to the first vote count for the 2019 All-Star Game, Carter has the chance to become an All-Star once again.
Adding an extra All-Star candidate to the team would be music to every Raptors fan’s ears, even if it is a 42-year-old veteran who’s currently getting votes as something as a fond farewell from the fans.
With the Raptors, Carter would most likely be nothing more than just a catch-and-shoot type of player. But then again, what more would they need from him? Known for his 3-point ability throughout the span of his career, Vince Carter could finally help bring that championship to the North.
That would be the perfect ending to a Hall of Fame career, and a move almost every Raptors fan would love to see.
