2. Iman Shumpert and Nemanja Bjelica

Even though this trade is nowhere near being a blockbuster deal, it might be the one that elevates the Raptors from the contender status to the alpha dog status.

Iman Shumpert is a player that struggled to keep his starting spot during his Cleveland Cavaliers days, though his defensive versatility ensured he always spent some time on the court.

Now, he and Nemanja Bjelica are both starters for the Sacramento Kings and have had quite a few impressive games so far. On a very young Kings team, Shumpert and Bjelica are providing the roster with playoff experience, ultimately helping this young group to maintain a record around .500.

Via this trade, the Kings do not lose any members of their young core, thus remaining extremely exciting for the future. In exchange, they get two role players to take the spots of the departed players, but also a first round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Both Shumpert (37.7 percent on 5.0 attempts per game) and Bjelica (43.6 percent on 3.7 attempts per game) are excellent shooters that could spread the floor and allow Kawhi Leonard to attack the paint with ease. They would get tons of open looks from the perimeter, thus taking Toronto’s shooting to the next level.
