3. Kevin Knox maintains his elite December level

All jokes aside, most New York fans were pretty shocked once they saw that Knox was not the superstar they expected him to be throughout the summer and preseason. After a very disappointing first quarter of the season, doubts about his abilities began to echo.

But then, Knox started playing like the player everybody thought he was — the talented youngster that made the Knicks select him with the ninth overall pick.

During the month of December, he’s been averaging 17.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while being a much more efficient shooter from beyond the arc (36.6 percent). He seems to be embracing his role perfectly.

So far, Knox has scored 20-plus points on six separate occasions. All six of those have occurred during this past month, which explains the increased amount of minutes he’s been getting.

With his current form, it won’t come as a surprise seeing him as an underdog for the Rookie of the Year award in the following months. Now, we’re only left to see if this hot streak can transition into 2019.
