3. The guards were more naughty than nice

Given that most of the team’s points came from the frontcourt, it’s fairly easy to say that the guards were disappointing, to say the least.

Here’s a stat to for all those that didn’t watch the Christmas Day game: New York’s guards were 15-for-51 from the field. No, that’s not a typo.

Take Tim Hardaway Jr. for example. He shot the ball 18 times and ended the game with only 14 points, same as Noah Vonleh. The only difference is Vonleh only took eight shots.

Out of all the guards, Damyean Dotson and Allonzo Trier were decent, but that’s far different from what the remaining guards provided New York. With shooting percentages way off and five effortless turnovers, Emmanuel Mudiay did not quite run the offense as he did in some recent outings.

Before the 2018-19 season kicked off, the Knicks were so overstocked with guards that they were torn as to who they were going to start. Well, maybe a preview of Tuesday’s game would have helped a lot at the time.
