3 NBA teams that should attempt to trade for Jabari Parker
1. Portland Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers have made the playoffs in each of the last five seasons, but after consecutive first round exits in a sweeping fashion, nobody is of the mindset they can realistically compete for a championship no matter how many wins they manage to rack up during the regular season.
The duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum has always been great, but it’s been the rest of the roster that needs pretty massive changes. Portland’s bench ranks 22nd in scoring — not a good mark for a team whose biggest defect is its inability to create consistent offensive production outside its two best players.
Flaws and all, the one thing Jabari Parker can do as a career 15.3 points per game scorer is put the ball in the basket. It might not be in the way analytics suggest is best, but his career 48.5 percent field goal percentage is good enough to suggest he can do it on a regular basis.
Parker isn’t likely to be the piece that puts Portland over the top, but after some questionable free agent signings, the Blazers don’t really have the flexibility to make a blockbuster deal. Instead, they need to take risks, and with a team option for the second year of his deal that would allow them to cut bait if the experiment fails, Parker is the one to consider.
