2. Utah Jazz

After an impressive 48-win campaign in 2017-19, the Utah Jazz are learning just how hard it is to consistently win at a high level, having begun this new season at just 15-17.

A big chunk of this regression has been due to the schedule-makers giving them a raw deal with the most difficult in the league by a wide margin. But part of it is also because of their play last season.

Nobody is being taken by surprise when it comes to the Jazz, an obvious sign of respect but also a signal that Utah has to do more in order to win the games a playoff contender should.

Part of the problem is that the Jazz don’t really have any shot-creators in their second unit. Their bench is comprised more of gritty defenders and spot-up shooters.

Those types of guys are necessary to a team’s success, but it becomes difficult when the opposition forces them to put the ball on the floor and create for others. Enter Jabari Parker.

Head coach Quinn Snyder would have options when it comes to the fifth-year man out of Duke. Either he could be the focal point of the second unit having everything run through him, or Parker could play next to guys like Donovan Mitchell and Joe Ingles as a way to make defenses pay for double-teaming them.

The Jazz already see the value a guy like Jabari could bring to their team, and with all the madness of the Western Conference, they need to try anything in order to just qualify for the postseason.
