The Milwaukee Bucks traded for George Hill for salary purposes, but there are also a number of reasons he can help this team reach its goals.

The Milwaukee Bucks took the league by storm over the first two months of the season, behind an unstoppable offense and a competent defense. Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the early frontrunners for the MVP award, Mike Budenholzer is the favorite for Coach of the Year in his first season with the team. The Bucks are currently 1.5 games back of the best record in the league.

That is not to say that the Bucks are without holes, as this is still a flawed team seeking to improve as the season progresses. Two weeks ago, they made a trade to clear salary for next season, netting point guard George Hill and big man Jason Smith in exchange for John Henson, Matthew Dellavedova and some draft capital.

While certainly motivated by the financial benefits, this move is more than just a cap-clearing transaction. George Hill is a veteran player with experience playing in high-pressure situations, and his level of play the past few seasons may not tell the entire story of what he can offer Milwaukee. With four games under his belt, the early returns have been rocky (2.3 points in 18.3 minutes per game on 4-of-19 shooting), but his career suggests he has plenty to bring to the table.

With two-thirds of the season still ahead of Milwaukee, and hopes of a deep playoff run after that, the Bucks will need to shore up their weaknesses and play at their best. Hill can be a player to join the rotation and help them accomplish their goals this season. Here are three ways that he can help the Bucks this season.
