Garrett Temple: Traded from Sacramento Kings for Deyonta Davis, Ben McLemore a 2021 2nd round pick

Garrett Temple was the second offseason pickup who’s been thrust into the starting lineup for the Grizzlies this season. He has started all 29 games for the Grizzlies so far and is averaging a career-high 10.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

Like other Grizzlies, Temple has taken a step back in the 3-point department, hitting just 35.7 percent of his outside shots — a significant dip from his 39.2 percent the prior year. Even though he’s taking more 3s this year, Temple is doing a lot more of his scoring in transition and close to the basket, since 33.3 percent of his buckets are coming in the paint off of the break.

The Grizzlies desperately need Temple to get back to his Sacramento days of shooting, hovering around 40 percent. With Temple on the floor so much and closing games, his 3-point shooting would be much appreciated down the stretch to open up the floor more.

The Grizzlies need Temple to be slightly better than just okay. Temple takes the majority of his 3s in the first half, but is just averaging 1.9 a game in the second half. He can be a bit more aggressive from outside.
