As the league gears up for a flurry of trade talks, the New Orleans Pelicans have many options to consider as they pursue a trade to bulk up their roster.
Amidst a stacked Western Conference featuring 14 teams all above or around .500, the New Orleans Pelicans continue to aim for the top to claim a playoff spot for themselves. Currently in 10th place with a 15-15 record after a dominant win against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, the Pelicans are finding wins, but not with the consistency they would like.
Much of the team’s success has been contingent upon Anthony Davis putting up monster numbers alongside a stout supporting cast of scorers. New Orleans holds the league’s fourth-best offensive rating and rarely has trouble scoring.
Their struggle is with the team’s defense. With the 24th-best defensive rating in the league, Davis and company must either put up an outlier defensive performance or have all offensive cylinders firing at once to win games.
To suggest the New Orleans Pelicans are in need of some personnel upgrades or added roster depth would be beyond obvious, as the team has Solomon Hill, Darius Miller and Tim Frazier all averaging over 20 minutes a game so far this season. With Dec. 15 approaching and front offices readying their phones for trade discussions, here are some potential moves Dell Demps and the Pelicans could make moving forward.
