Boston Celtics: 3 things on the holiday wish list
1. A strong end to the season
The Celtics didn’t start the season as strong as they had hoped, going only 10-10 during the first 20 games. They’ve experienced numerous struggles and didn’t look like the team on the verge of breaking through from last year.
Now, they’ve won their previous seven games after starting Smart and Morris. It’s good to see them go on a run and win that many games in a row, but it’s still a small sample size. Who knows what can happen come January?
One thing that is for sure, this team should not be fifth in the East and only 17-10. The Celtics are considered to be one of the top teams in the NBA and quite possibly the best team in their conference. Thus far, neither of those statements have been true.
The NBA is still not at the halfway point, so it’s not hard to see them turning things around. They’ve played a lot better and that momentum should carry over for a while. This kind of run is something the Celtics need to do consistently.
There have been several players that have struggled (namely: Hayward, Brown and Tatum with his shooting efficiency). Tatum and Irving both started out slow, but they’ve increased their shooting percentages.
The Celtics have had a disappointing season considering where they were last year and the amount of potential they have. They’re young and talented, but something hasn’t clicked until recently. They may have found their footing as of late, but it’s something that needs to be seen over a longer stretch of time.
