A top team in the West
While a winning record doesn’t always completely take away from a player’s chance to be an All-Star, it certainly helps to be on a good team that gets a lot of attention, especially for fan voting.
Although they’re no longer in first place, the Clippers still boast a 17-10 record and have beaten some of the best teams in the league so far. When looking at the All-Star roster from 2018, only Kemba Walker and Kristaps Porzingis (was selected but got injured) played for teams with losing records.
The vast majority of the time, players on winning teams make up the All-Star rosters, despite a few exceptions. A lot of this is due to more recognition from fans, but also the fact that there isn’t an argument against how their performance is impacting the win column for their respective teams.
With this in mind, Harris is averaging an All-Star caliber stat line for a top-tier team in a tough Western Conference, and has proven to be the team’s most consistent and efficient scorer. He meets some major criteria, but how does he match up against the competition?
