3. Robert Covington and Dario Saric have proven to be nice additions

During his time with the Sixers, Covington was usually the third or fourth option in terms of scoring. Bearing that in mind, it was reasonable to wonder how he would respond to being given a larger role.

Fortunately, he has elevated his game since coming over to Minnesota. In 11 appearances for the Timberwolves, he has compiled averages 14.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest. This is bump up from the 11.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game he posted with the Sixers.

It is also worth noting that he is knocking down 39.2 percent of his looks from beyond the arc. Furthermore, Covington is averaging 2.7 steals per contest.

Meanwhile, although Saric’s numbers aren’t as good as they were with the Sixers last season (14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in 73 starts), he is still averaging a respectable 10.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest coming off the bench. Even more important, he gives Minnesota another player who can knock down looks from deep, as he is shooting 34.9 percent from 3-point range.

All in all, while the Timberwolves were forced to trade a four-time All-Star, they got a couple of nice additions in return.
