Counting down 14 Christmas wishes for the Cleveland Cavaliers

9. Jordan Clarkson adjusts shot selection
Jordan Clarkson has had an interesting year for the Cleveland Cavaliers. His antics on the court have somehow had both a negative and positive effect on the team. His scoring is appreciated, but his style of play often disrupts the flow of the Cavs’ offense.
Right now, Clarkson is averaging the eighth-most minutes on the team while shooting the second-most field goals per game. Furthermore, Clarkson has attempted a team-high 347 field goals, which is 25 more field goals than any other Cavalier this season.
Clarkson has a tendency to isolate himself when he has the ball and ignore his teammates. This is proven by the fact that 67.7 percent of Clarkson’s field goals have been unassisted, meaning he’s usually created the play himself without the use of his teammates.
While he may be shooting too many shots, he is at least making a good percentage of them. Clarkson is shooting 44.7 percent from the field, which is the 28th-highest percentage of any player attempting 14+ field goals a game.
Moving forward, the team would benefit more from Clarkson’s presence if he adjusts his shot selection and looks to become a better facilitator. His 16.3 points per game are helpful, but he is stifling the development of other players on the team. The overall offensive attack of the Cavaliers would be stronger if there were more ball movement.
