Much-needed experience for the future

As if his success with the starting lineup and the fact that he beats out competition in almost all aspects weren’t already enough to justify a continued starting role, keep in mind that Gilgeous-Alexander was drafted with the intention of being this team’s point guard of the future.

The Clippers have surprised pretty much everyone this year so far, and while it’s still very early in the season, all indications point toward an eventual playoff appearance. Considering the fact that SGA is supposed to be in L.A. for a long time, it’s best that he learns to play with experienced veterans and gets a lot of run time in the playoffs as a starter.

He’s proven that he can do virtually everything a point guard needs to do in this league and only looks to improve each year. Patrick Beverley is on the last year of his contract and has not been nearly as effective as Gilgeous-Alexander, and Avery Bradley is more of an off-guard anyway, so expect little interference for his spot.

In a draft class seemingly filled to the brim with talented young players, the rookie out of Kentucky has been quietly making some noise for an extremely good team down in L.A. Expect this to continue for the remainder of the season if everything goes according to plan.
