4. Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks

Last week: 2nd (↓2)

Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young has gone into a spiral of sorts in this week’s power rankings. He’s averaging 14.5 points, 5.3 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game across the last four contests for Atlanta, which posted a 2-2 record in that stretch.

Volume shooting hasn’t been his forte this season like it was at the college level. He’s attempting a team-high 14.6 field goals per game in 2018-19, but his load may be too much to bear in the early going.

Young has still struggled with his shot from behind the arc. He’s shooting 35.7 percent from the field and 31 percent from behind the arc across the last four games. On the season, Young is shooting 38.3 percent from the floor and 25.4 percent from 3-point range.

He has managed to offset his shooting woes by distributing the ball more. In a 115-113 victory over the Miami Heat, he registered his seventh double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 assists. Young currently ranks second among rookies in double-doubles this season.

One thing he’ll need to do is limit his turnovers, though. He averaged 4.0 turnovers through this past week and is averaging 3.9 turnovers per contest on the season.
