2. Trey Lyles‘ offensive explosion against Orlando

Does a slumping shooter keep on firing? Fans are torn on this issue, although most experts lean toward yes. Trey Lyles did them one better Friday — he attacked the hoop with vengeance and had his way inside against the Orlando Magic.

Lyles posted a game-high 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Although he splashed just 1-of-5 attempts from 3-point range, he more than made up for it inside the arc. Orlando had no defense for Lyles near the hoop.

Per the Denver Post, here’s what Lyles had to say about his performance:

"“Yeah, I can’t rely on my jump shot all the time. Right now I’m not shooting too well, and just being aggressive … going to the basket, getting to different spots and just taking my [best] shots.”"

Most Mile High faithful appreciate this from Lyles. The shooting stroke is one of his best attributes, but it never hurts to fine-tune the driving game. Plus, the dude is crazy athletic, giving him terrific slashing potential.

In the ensuing game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Lyles sank 2-of-2 looks from distance on his way to 16 points. Now Lyles is hot from inside and out, so hopefully he can continue this high-octane scoring punch.
