2. Rodney Hood’s struggles

It looks like Rodney Hood might not have star-worth potential after all. What a bummer.

He was supposed to be the next big thing with the Utah Jazz before a trade to Cleveland last winter. Maybe Quin Snyder and company ultimately realized the former captain of the Duke Blue Devils and long lefty with the ability to score with ease just wasn’t cut out to be franchise piece.

The Cavaliers might be figuring that out now.

Despite earning starter’s minutes, Hood is averaging 13.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He is shooting a solid 43.8 percent. Hood, on a team desperate for a takeover player, seriously lacks a scorer’s mentality.

Hopefully it’s still too soon to close the door on Hood. His potential was on display Friday against Philadelphia as he poured in 25 points. This after a decent game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Alright Rodney, we see you. Step backs like these would be appreciated more often.

Along with top pick Collin Sexton, Hood is the guy with decent star potential. At least it feels that way. Maybe we can write it into existence with enough positive articles.

For now, Hood is underwhelming. In a major “show me” year, that’s disappointing.
