Boston Celtics: 3 reasons to be thankful this weekend
By Shea Norling
The Celtics have good health
The 2017-18 campaign was decimated by injuries. A Celtics roster that likely could have made an NBA Finals trip at full health wound up being eliminated in the Eastern Conference Finals by LeBron James’s Cleveland Cavaliers.
There’s no reason to relive what happened to Gordon Hayward, but when it was compounded by injuries to Daniel Theis, and Kyrie Irving, the hope for Banner 18 was gone.
This season has been a different story. While the Celtics shots haven’t been falling despite having the most “wide-open” shooting opportunities per stat tracking at NBA.com, these issues are much more fixable than injuries.
In fact, at the time of tip-off against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, the only active player listed on the injury report was Al Horford with a minor knee injury.
The Celtics and their fans know how easily injuries can derail a season. It’s no question that being one of the healthiest teams in the NBA this season is a very good place to be.
