2. Add more shooters

As things stand right now, the Pistons have just four shooters that are hitting over 35 percent of their 3-point attempts. However, two of those are Luke Kennard and Henry Ellenson, who have played a total of just 51 minutes this season. The other two are Griffin and wing Reggie Bullock. Griffin isn’t a great volume shooter historically, and Bullock has struggled to get back to the breakout that he experienced last season.

Upon Kennard’s return from injury, he should get more minutes, but that is not a guarantee after what we saw at the beginning of the season. Kennard is set to be the next great sharpshooter of this generation, but he has to be on the floor. He is projected to return in the next few weeks, but there is no guarantee or set timetable that it will take him to get his shooting back to the level expected of him.

Shooters are always available in the NBA because rebuilding teams use those pieces as value to expedite their rebuild with better draft picks. Two intriguing names for the team to consider are Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guards Kyle Korver or J.R. Smith, who is away from the team until a trade can be reached.

The team has already had rumors swirling that he is on the trading block. With an expiring contract, he would be very acquirable for a Pistons team that is short on movable pieces right now.
