3. Markelle Fultz

Markelle Fultz is the newest member of the All-Time Awkward Free Throw Shooting Team. His shooting woes have been well documented.

A mysterious injury during his rookie season prevented him from shooting the ball outside of the painted area. He played just 14 games last year, and the expectation was that he would be ready to go this season. After all, Fultz was a solid shooter during his one season in college as a member of the Washington Huskies, even though he only shot 64.9 percent from the free throw line in college. Still, that’s much better than the 53.4 percent he’s shooting as a pro.

As it would turn out, there’s still an awkward hitch in his shot that he just can’t seem to get rid of. Some people are saying that it’s a mental block. It’s drawing comparisons to Charles Barkley’s golf swing. But just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse, Fultz unveiled a new free throw routine in Friday’s game against the Utah Jazz.

There’s no telling why he’s decided to bobble the ball in such an awkward motion before letting it go. I suppose when a shooting slump is as bad as it currently sits, anything is worth a shot.
