Los Angeles Lakers: Latest rumors on Kevin Durant, Kyle Korver trade and more
Kyle Korver on Lakers’ list of trade targets
When LeBron was signed back in July, it was expected that the Lakers would follow the move up with the addition of James’ buddies and past teammates. Instead, the roster was filled with a random gaggle of misfits, earning the group the “Meme Team” nickname.
Well, now we’ve gotten to the point where some familiar faces could come into the picture.
According to Gery Woelfel of woelfelspressbox.com, the Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to move sharpshooter Kyle Korver. If you look at the list of potential suitors Woelfel presents, you won’t find many surprising names. The folks reading this piece, however, will probably be most interested in the final team listed.
"The Bucks aren’t the only team interested in Korver’s services. Sources said Philadelphia, Oklahoma City and Los Angeles Lakers are also among the Korver suitors."
The interest makes sense for a couple of reasons. The first is the added 3-point shooting, which is always welcomed in today’s NBA. Korver is among the best long range snipers in league history, and he has experience playing alongside LeBron. Seems like a solid fit, right? It would make even more sense if Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers, as recent rumors suggest could happen.
The other point worth making here is that Korver comes with a reasonable price tag. Although he still has one year remaining on his contract, only $3.4 million of his $7.5 million salary for 2019-20 is guaranteed. It’s not a crippling figure, and it’s one Magic can probably work with heading into next offseason.
I wouldn’t get your hopes too high on seeing Korver in a Lakers jersey anytime soon. For now, though, the possibility remains — especially if James has as much pull in the front office as is suspected.
