Detroit Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson has struggled out of the gate. For a team that isn’t set to compete, they should use him in a trade to fix that.

The Detroit Pistons are 6-6 after their first 12 games, and the case can already be made that they need to make a change to the roster they have right now.

When looking at their games against teams that were or are expected to compete for a playoff spot, they are just 1-5. Their lone win came against the Philadelphia 76ers, who were playing without point forward Ben Simmons. Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin have played well, but Reggie Jackson has fallen flat.

Through 12 games, Jackson is averaging 15.9 points on 13.8 shots per game. He is also failing to set up other teammates. His season-high in assists is just seven in their 113-103 loss to the Charlotte Hornets. Jackson showed some increased touch from 3-point range to start the season, but that has regressed in the last few games. This team has playoff hopes, and he is just not getting the job done for them.

With veteran Ish Smith playing well and rookie Bruce Brown Jr. showing some flashes, the case for trading Jackson continues to grow. With only two seasons left on his contract, it’s no longer the albatross it once was, but it still needs some work to get it done. Let’s take a look at the value of Jackson in a trade scenario.
